HILL COTTAGE, Somerset
Local attractions Somerset is an attractive county. It has many attractive villages and towns set in beautiful countryside as well as having several traditional seaside holiday resorts. For the country lover we'd recommend exploring local hills and moorland; the Mendips and Quantocks are in easy reach with Exmoor with its deer and wild ponies within an hour drive. Wild Dartmoor is just over an hours drive from us. Glastonbury, with its Arthurian associations, the Tor and new age vibe is just a few minutes drive from us and the tiny city of Wells with its beautiful cathedral, good shops, restaurants and excellent market is just a little further on. We could go and list so many local villages and towns which are pretty, have great pubs or restaurants but probably the best solution is just to drive around and discover the for yourself. One "Don't miss" city is Bath with buildings going back to the time of the Romans and you really should visit Bristol, regarded as one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the UK (well thats what the Sunday Times said recently...and we'd tend to agree). When we want to spend time by the sea we head south to Dorset and Devon for beautiful, often secluded beaches, harbours and villages such as Beer, Salcombe, West Bay or Lyme Regis, or west to places like Croyde or Woolacombe for the huge beaches and surfing.
Country homes and gardens to visit are all around. One of the biggest is Longleat with its safari park. We have put a few local links on another part of the site. Aternatively tell us about your interests and we'll try to find out about local opportunities.
