HILL COTTAGE, Somerset

About Hill Cottage

The deeds to Hill Cottage show that it was built sometime in the 18th century. The earliest record is a document relating to a mortgage being raised on the existing building which dates from the late 1700s.

The oldest part of the property is made of thick stone walls which keep the house warm and cosy in winter and cool in summer. The cosy, cottage ambiance is helped by a large, oak beamed inglenook fireplace in the lounge. The 21st century intrudes into this room as it also features a large SKY+ satellite equipped TV with a Wii games console and a DVD player (plus plenty of games and DVDs).

A small office contains a broadband PC whose router also provides WiFi through the house. The music room has a piano, other instruments and a sonos streaming music system which plays Internet radio from across the world, accesses an extensive personal music collection and the lastFM service.

The kitchen and dining area is well equipped with the usual appliances including dishwasher, coffee machine and a 5 burner gas hob and a double oven.

The new extension opens off the music room and provides a double bedroom with adjacent bathroom, a sun lounge and utility room. The sunlounge is just the place to settle with a coffee and the newspapers in the morning. It opens out on to a south facing patio with dining furniture, loungers and a large gas barbeque.

Upstairs is the master bedroom (with SKY TV) a bathroom and two single bedrooms.
